Enthusiastic and experienced teacher looking for SEN and/or Primary role in Shropshire!
Currently a Supply Teacher - I decided to teach on a supply basis in order to gain experience in a variety of settings and roles, with a particular emphasis on special schools and primary aged children. Various long term placements have included: two mainstream secondary SENCo leadership roles, year 3/4 teacher in ASD/MLD school, primary DT and RE teacher for all years. Also, regular day placements in mainstream primary and both primary and secondary special schools. Secondary School, London September 2000 - December 2007 – a multi-cultural non-selective comprehensive inner city school with 1200 pupils on role. Teacher in Charge of Complex Needs September 2007- December 2007 Duties included: • Design and implement personalised curriculums for all pupils with MLD, SLD, ASD and MD particularly Down Syndrome • Line manage a team of eight teaching assistants, constructing timetables to allocate support. Responsible for observation and training program. • Liaise with outside agencies and work alongside outreach specialists ensuring implementation of strategies on whole school level; attend annual reviews • Responsible for all pupils in year 7 on Inclusion register, construct and monitor IEPs • Partnership teach and advise subject teachers on effective differentiation and teaching methods to meet the needs of pupils with SEN within mainstream classroom settings • Teaching load included Asdan life skills, literacy, PSHE and academic subject areas to support and enhance mainstream lessons Teacher of Learning and Teaching Support- April 2006 - September 2007 Duties included: • As above with a smaller caseload and staff • Responsible for academic support groups for Literacy and Speech Language and Communication Teacher of English/KS5 Entry level - January 2002 – April 2006 Duties included: • Developing and delivering Asdan Life Skills Program- (shared responsibility) • Teaching load also included: post 16 Leisure and Tourism, mixed ability KS3 and KS4 English mainstream classes Teacher of English/EAL support teacher - September 2000 – April 2001 (pre QTS) Additional responsibilities: Deputy Head of Year - September 2003 - September 2006 Duties included: • Monitoring and raising attendance of year group, mentoring SEBD pupils.
