Having attended middle and upper school in Worcestershire as a pupil I would now appreciate the opportunity to teach here in the foundation early years stage. I am currently undertaking a PGCE course at Birmingham City University which I will complete in June 2010.
I believe in the principle of school partnerships between staff, pupils and parents. During my first placement at Turves Green Primary School I was able to take part in this during the Stay Play and Learn sessions and observe how it benefited all those concerned. During my placement I was able to develop very good relationships with both the pupils and teaching staff. This also allowed me to identify my strengths and weaknesses and to improve on these by acting on the advice and suggestions given by the teaching staff. Whilst on my placement I was able to provide the children with an imaginative and stimulating learning environment across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. I have a special interest in working with children with SEN and would like to develop this area of my teaching career further. During my degree course at Birmingham University I undertook a placement at Victoria School, Northfield which is the largest school in Birmingham for children with physical disabilities. During my time there I very quickly built an excellent rapport with the children and staff that I was working with. Turves Green Primary School has a large number of challenging children and during my time there I gained a greater understanding of the need to ensure that all lessons are planned and executed in such a way as to be fully inclusive for all children. The opportunity to be able to teach every aspect of the curriculum has influenced my desire to be a an Early Years teacher along with a desire to have a positive impact on the lives of the children that I teach by helping them achieve their full potential. I would bring enthusiasm and a positivity for learning into any school I am fortunate enough to work in and create an environment where every child is given the opportunity to be involved in the classroom and enjoy learning and school life. Outside of my professional life I enjoy travelling and learning about other cultures having been on various road trips around different areas of North America and Europe. I also enjoy reading, socialising with friends and family and listening to music. |
