| Public Profile: |
I am currently a successful Head of Citizenship with responsibility of the SIP Community Cohesion priority, as well as History teacher, at a school situated in Walsall. I feel now is the time to move on to embrace further challenges within my career.
As my application support letter will show, I have extensive experience working with children. Since becoming Head of Department I have ensured pupil progress is tracked using matrices and assessment if fully complied to. I have created structured programmes of assessment across all key stages to track pupils. I continuously use databases to identify underperformance and initiate plans of action. I believe pupils need to know where they are at to ensure that they can make progress. My examination results have always been good and reflect progress made by pupils. When working with limited resources, I have developed activities to enrich the children’s appreciation of Citizenship and History, such as creating hands-on projects which enthuse pupils to experience other cultures like the Ancient Civilisations, such as the Mayans, Aztecs etc, through dance, hieroglyphic writing, food tasting etc. . I believe pupil interaction with the curriculum allows pupils to understand fully different communities and enhances harmony. My lessons are about teamwork, leadership, and motivation. I have had the opportunity to deliver subjects as a non-specialist too, which include Geography, Religious Education and ASDAN, I honestly believe teaching relies upon delivering to pupils needs for them to fully understand a subject, so differentiation always occurs in my classroom. My classroom behaviour management skills are excellent and often I am called upon by other staff for support. I feel I am a capable and imaginative manager, taking on new responsibilities with energy, commitment and enthusiasm. I also find professional and personal fulfilment in being a sensitive team player that is committed to open and supportive management. |
