Public Profile: At present, I am working as a supply teacher, I am working within a variety of different age groups and a variety of different schools. Working as a supply teacher has made me versatile and adaptable to different situations, as I have had the advantage of experience in many different situations and places.
I also worked in Brynteg Primary School. I worked there every Friday from the beginning of the Spring Term 2009. During my time in the school, I had experience of working in a variety of classes. I had involvement of working with pupils from the Speech and Language Unit; some of these pupils are autistic, dyspracsic and have specific speech and learning problems. Mainly I worked within the year 3 class. I had experience of teaching pupils with Downs Syndrome; microcephally and children with AEN. The school follows the First Steps Language Programme, CAME Maths, and CASE Science Programmes, all of which I have been fortunate enough to witness being taught and be part of teaching myself. These programmes are all specifically linked to encouraging independent learning and the use of AFL in the classroom.
My degree course at University and my four teaching experiences have prepared me to teach all areas of the National Curriculum and Religious Education for 3 to 11 year olds. My degree has allowed me to look closely at the whole curriculum and the importance of a well balanced skill based curriculum to the development of the child and how to effectively teach all areas of the curriculum. To compliment this I also have a specialist module in English and ICT. Specialist modules as part of my degree have allowed me to look closely at SEN. I am aware of the new orders for the curriculum for key stage two. I have successfully completed four block experiences in different schools with a variety of children. I have had a wide range of experiences across the key stages, with my teaching practices ranging from Reception to Year 6. I have taught a reception classes, a Year 4 class, Year 5 class and a Year 6 class.

I believe I possess the qualities and skills that are desirable to become an excellent teacher across the Key Stages. I have successfully passed and exceeded all standards set by my university whilst on my teaching experiences. I have experienced two lengthy teaching practices within the early year’s environment and practices within Key Stage one, and lower and upper Key Stage two.
Throughout my teaching experiences my planning has been clear, detailed and effective. I am able to plan effectively for both the indoor and outdoor classroom. My planning throughout has always taken into consideration children’s differing abilities and the need to evaluate regularly to inform my own planning. I am able to monitor children’s progress effectively and encourage children to self evaluate their progress and learning from the onset. I believe in setting realistic targets for each child. On my teaching experiences my teaching strategies and regular observations enabled me to make formative assessments on the children. My marking is also used as an assessment tool; it is prompt, constructive and always positive, highlighting good points for individual children and discussing the way forward.
I consider it to be of great importance to provide a stimulating environment for pupils. My displays are vibrant, effective and interactive so as to inspire and enthuse children. I believe it is essential to have a well organised classroom with resources clearly labelled and bilingual so that they are accessible to all. I value the importance of children as independent learners and have a good understanding of how children learn creatively. I set high expectations for children’s behaviour, establishing and maintaining a good standard of discipline. I raise children’s self esteem by rewarding good behaviour and work. I have a friendly personality which enables me to establish excellent relationships with all members of staff, parents and children. Past teaching experiences have allowed me to demonstrate my ability to plan for and share ideas with other adults in the classroom environment. I am able to lead and advise. I am able to liase with parents and respect the need to form good, trusting relationships with pupils and parents. I believe it is essential to develop a strong partnership between home and school.

My experiences have allowed me to consider the main aims of a primary school. I have a firm believe that the aim of a broad and balanced curriculum is to help children understand the community in which they live. It should allow children to think and develop enquiring skills. Key skills should be promoted as well as personal and social development and respect for one another. I believe it is essential that children respect and celebrate the diversity of the different cultural and religious traditions. A positive school ethos is essential to which I feel I can greatly contribute to.

I have the ability to be part of a happy and enthusiastic team of practitioners. I am motivated with great stamina and drive, well organised, enthusiastic and a conscientious practitioner with a wide range of experiences in the primary school. I always give to the best of my abilities. I communicate well and am eager to learn from those with many years of teaching experience. I am a reflective practitioner. I will integrate well into a thriving team whilst continuing my own professional development. I have a positive attitude towards development and progression. I am looking forward to accepting further responsibilities in my career, reaching high standards and striving to achieve positive results within a positive school environment.
