Building a strong relationship with pupils allows me to focus on the progression of each individual pupil. I utilise assessment for learning techniques frequently to allow pupils to monitor their own understanding and become responsibility for their own learning, such as self/peer assessment of essay style questioning using mark schemes; this also allows for a focus on literacy. The effective use of differentiation is also an area of strength within my planning and teaching, as I use prior learning to ensure future lesson resources challenge the full range of abilities within a single group.

I am passionate about my subject and firmly believe that business lessons should be active and made relevant to pupils. I consider the range of resources and the quality of my lesson planning to be a strong aspect of my teaching, where I like to use a range of sources to bring business concepts to life and allow pupils to relate with the topics they are learning. My uses of experiential learning tools such as; role plays, case studies and business simulations, provide an excellent foundation to base new business concepts around, and give pupils business experiences as they learn by doing.

The teaching experience I have spans across three subject areas; Business Studies, Economics & ICT. I am confidence teaching all three subjects with strong subject knowledge and have taught each subject at both key stage four and key stage five, covering all topic areas covered on the syllabuses at GCSE and A-Level. I have experience teaching business at BTEC level and have also covered a number of GCSE Citizenship groups during my times with my attachment schools.

I am looking to establish myself as an outstanding teacher, building up my own responsibilities through extra curriculum activities and personal development with the support of the school. My long term ambition is to work towards becoming a head of department in Business and push myself by working towards becoming an Advanced Skills teacher.
